Joey Weisenberg and the Hadar Ensemble
Joey Weisenberg and the Hadar Ensemble perform “New Brooklyn Jewish Music.” You’ll hear traditional sounding Jewish melodies, chants, and prayers blended with the sounds of contemporary Brooklyn: jazz, Balkan, soul, flamenco, bluegrass, and more.
Joey Weisenberg and the Hadar Trio
Joey’s Trio performs the same favorite nigunim and melodies, but the trio format allows extended improvisation and experimentation. The trio puts the spotlight on the interaction between the musicians, as well as on longer improvised solos and spontaneous variations on a nigun.
Mandolin Meditations with Sameer Gupta (Tabla)
Mandolinist/Singer Joey Weisenberg and Tabla player Sameer Gupta create melodic meditations based on Jewish Nigunim (wordless melodies) and Indian Rhythmic Cycles. Their improvisations draw on the musical spirituality of both traditions, weaving danceable rhythms with free-form melodies that yearn for the divine.
Joey Weisenberg Solo
In the solo performances, Joey accompanies his singing with mandolin, guitar, and percussive foot-stomps. During solo performances, Joey particularly enjoys bringing in the audience as his spontaneous back-up choir.
